She was then cast for the principal role in an American Campaign for ‘Kool Aid’, which required an American accent. Indiana has also appeared in Comedy Inc. These small acting jobs resulted into a full time role as Abby Oakly on the television show Snobs. At this time she had just started her 1st year in high school but could only attend for a couple of weeks as she going to be “shooting” for most of that year. The role of Abbie also required Indiana to learn and surfing and horse riding. Indiana had already been getting some fame in Austrailia, but the huge break through came the following year…
In 2004 Indiana got the role as Mathilda Hunter on the popular Austrailia show ”Home and away”. Indiana said she had been watching Home and Away since she was just a little girl, so when her agent broke the news over the phone that she won the role of Matilda, she was in shock. It was very weird and overwhelming for her in the beginning because she had been watching the show everyday. She explained in an interview that she at first didn’t know what to say, and ran around her home screaming for a little while before she called back to see if it was really true. “The show is very fast paced and was overwhelming at first but at the same time she is quite laid back now about it,”. Explained Indiana after a few months as a regular cast member. Mathilda quickly became one of the shows most popular caracters, and Indiana became a role model for many young girls in Austrailia. In 2005 she was nominated for a Tv week logie award for Most popular new female talent. She got many huge and popular storylines, including an eatingdisorder storyline which Indiana recieved amazing reviews for. Her caracter also went through things like moving to the bay and having issues fitting in, an explosion in a wedding which caused her third-degree burns, her boyfriend becomming pregnant with another women and dealing with the death of her mother. Indie stayed in the show for 4 years, untill she left togheter with co star Mark Furze in 2008. However, in the May edition of Tv week, she stated that the producers offered her a contract extensisons but that she was ready to move on. Her character made her last appearance on the soap in July 2008. Mathilda got an unusual happy ending, and left the show with her boyfriend Ric ( Mark Furze ).
The same year, Indiana won the award “Queen of teens” at the Dolly Teen Choice Awards. A lot of focus where put on her personal life during this period. When her “Home and away” caracter Matilda had been togheter with “Lucas”, she dated the actor playing him, Rhys Wakefield. They where on and off a lot, but where after a few years reported as broken up. Indiana later dated her other co-star, Lincoln Lewis (Geoff). A lot of personal details, rumors and lies spread over the internett during their romance, before they eventually broke up.
Later in 2008, Indiana appeared as a guest role as China Williams in the Australian show “The strip”. After this she took a short break from acting before she got the part as Isabella “Bella” Hartley in the third season of the children show “H20″. Indiana was no longer just an Australian teen-queen celebrity, but an international star. 2009 showed itself to be a huge year for Indiana. A lot of new projects where added to her filmography, including “Burden“, “The killing of Caroline Byrne” and “Arctic blast”. But most importantly, it was the year where season 3 of “H2o” started airing. Indiana went on to recieve amazing reviews from both critics and fans, and she even got to show that she has a singing gift aswell. She song the opening credit song for the third season, “No ordinary girl” which had earlier been sung by Kate Alexa. The producers of the show also made her caracter a part of a band, so they got to show her singing talent in almost every episode – and her songs where suddenly all over the internett!
Even though she had a lot of short film releases aswell as H2o, 2009 was a quiet year when it came to public appearances. She only attented 2 proper events thoughout 2009. After more than 6 months in hiding, Indiana showed up at the red carpet of the Australian movie premiere of Sex and the city 2 in late May 2010. With a new hair color, and a more mature look, she graced the carpet and proved that she belonged on it. Fans where thrilled to see her out and about again!
As for 2010, Indiana’s most major movie role is comming up. Her Sci-fi thriller “Arctic Blast”, where she stars as Andrea Tate, is to be released in 2010 in the USA.
